Occlusal Guards (Bite Splints)

Many patients grind their teeth or have sore or tired muscles from clenching their teeth at night while they sleep. Occlusal guards (or bite splints) can be used protect the teeth from enamel wear and excessive forces that might cause teeth to weaken or fracture over time. In our office, these appliances are designed to protect the TMJ (jaw joint) and facial muscles and can provide much relief for those who grind or wake with sore or tired muscles. They are most often worn at night.
