Routine and Deep Cleaning
This is the most important aspect of your dental health, especially since 3 out of 4 adults have some form of gum disease of which they are not aware! Dr. Schulman is complimented by his highly trained team of dental hygienists whose primary focus is making you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout your dental hygiene visit. They diligently and thoroughly clean your teeth and are qualified to properly treat gum disease with a non-surgical approach providing excellent results. Our registered dental hygienists keep up with the latest procedures and innovations in dentistry through routine continuing education classes. We recommend a professional dental hygiene visit at least twice a year. Your exam includes professional cleaning, tartar removal, plaque removal, x-rays and fluoride
Oral Cancer Screening
You may not think of your dentist when you hear the words “cancer screening” but it is projected that more than 30,000 Americans will receive an oral cancer diagnosis this year. The good news is that if found early, oral cancer is 90% curable. During your dental hygiene exam, Dr. Schulman and his team of hygienists perform routine oral cancer screenings by inspecting the patients tongue, floor and roof of the mouth, and all oral tissue inside the mouth. If the screening warrants additional treatment, our team will discuss the next steps, such as a biopsy.
Dental Radiographs
Dental radiographs or x-rays are taken for complete diagnosis of your oral health. They provide our team with valuable information; not only about your teeth, but also the supporting structures of your teeth and indicators of possible other medical issues. With them, we also can detect problems in existing dental work, as well as receding bone levels and oral abscesses. Our office is equipped with digital technology which allows for instant images and reduced exposure to radiation. With our up to date technology, Dr. Schulman is able to properly and effectively diagnose your dental health status, therefore establishing a baseline from which to monitor changes over time.
Preventive Sealants
The pits and grooves of your teeth are prime areas for opportunistic decay. Regular brushing sometimes misses these intricate structures on the biting surfaces of your teeth. A sealant is a liquid substance that hardens after application on these surfaces and has been shown to play an important role in the prevention of tooth decay. These sealants prevent the intrusion of bacteria and other debris from entering the pits and grooves of your teeth.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are hand-crafted to create a beautiful porcelain covering for individual teeth. Veneers can be a permanent solution to most cosmetic dental problems. They will successfully treat gaps, chips, excessively small or large teeth, discolored or stained teeth, or even straighten misaligned or crooked teeth in as little as two visits. Dr. Schulman and his team have been enhancing patient’s smiles with porcelain veneers for over 10 years. Call to schedule a complimentary consultation with our office.
Crowns
A crown (or cap) is an artificial replacement for the covering of your teeth. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth. Crowns are also used to restore a tooth’s function following a procedure such as a root canal. There are different types of crowns available and with new revolutionary technology we can design crowns that contain no metals and are the ultimate in beauty and longevity.
Bridges
Also known as a fixed partial denture, a bridge is a dental restoration used to replace a missing tooth by joining permanently to the adjacent teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, and possibly the loss of additional teeth. A permanent bridge might be just being the right solution for your healthy, beautiful new smile.
White (resin) Fillings
The tooth-colored resin fillings have state of the art status as the material of choice for small cavities or to replace smaller existing silver (amalgam) fillings. Dental fillings should blend in and look like they are part of your natural teeth. Old silver amalgam fillings can be aesthetically distracting and make an entire tooth look darker than the rest of your smile. When you speak or smile, the most attractive fillings are the ones you can’t see. While there are no metals in the tooth colored fillings, the advancement of the resin fillers have increased their longevity, averaging 10-12 years. Dr. Schulman has been restoring teeth with non-metal fillings since 1997.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a simple, safe and effective procedure that lightens and brightens yellow or discolored teeth, and we offer several options for accomplishing this. Our office recommends the home tray whitening system because it causes the least sensitivity and provides the longest lasting results. Custom trays will be made especially for you, and you will be given syringes of whitening gel as necessary. We also offer disposable take-home trays that are ideal for teenagers or those just starting out with whitening. While the one hour whitening systems have extraordinary advertising appeal, more patients experience discomfort and sensitivity without the longer whitening results. It is always a goal to keep our patients comfortable and happy while we help them achieve their dental health goals and enhance their smile. Ask our office about our Whitening For Life program!
Full Dentures/Removable Partial Dentures
Complete dentures or removable partial dentures are an option if you are missing teeth and are not a candidate for permanent tooth replacement. Our team is skilled in the different options with the advancement of removable dentures. Ask us how we can help you determine the best solution for you to enhance your oral health.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth replacement and is used to support crowns, bridges, partials, and full dentures. As substitute roots, implants bond with the bone to form a stable foundation for permanent replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Dental implants prove to be a long lasting alternative to bridges, conventional dentures or partials. Dr. Schulman teams with top oral surgeons to create a plan that provides you with stable, functional, and beautiful new teeth. If you have been missing teeth for a long period of time, ask our office how you can turn back time with dental implants.
TMJ/Mouthguards
TMJ or TMD (temporomandibular joint or temporomandibular disorder) can cause bite instability and various dental problems that could be prevented with a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Grinding or clenching of your teeth, headaches and muscle soreness are just a few of the symptoms caused by TMD. A comprehensive examination aids in identifying people with TMD and those that are displaying the signs of developing TMD. Preventive treatment includes the fabrication of an orthosis (orthotic mouth guard, splint). The splint establishes neuromuscular harmony of the teeth with the jaw joints and muscles and can help reduce symptoms. For each patient, a healthy bite is paramount for dental treatment success.
We also offer custom-fit sports guards to protect your children from oral injury during sports. Ask Dr. Schulman or his team for more information.
